Band & Orchestra
5th Grade Band & Orchestra
Horizons 5th graders have the option to join Band or Orchestra and learn to play an instrument of their choice!
Ms. Ninee and Mrs. Schooler will visit classes in the first few weeks of school to show student instruments. We encourage your student to listen to music they like and try to identify the instrument that they would like to get to know better.
Band & Orchestra meet Monday through Friday from 8:15–8:45am. Students will not miss any of their classroom instruction during this time, as most 5th graders choose to learn an instrument. Students who stay behind typically work on remedial work with their teacher. We hold several concerts throughout the year to show what we have been working on in our daily classes. Instrument selection and sign-ups take place in the fall, and information will be sent directly to families.
Instruments can be purchased or rented from local vendors, or through the district's own inventory of instruments. Please contact the band/orchestra directors if financial costs are a barrier to participation.
