Future-Ready Kindergarten at Horizons
Horizons Elementary is proud to be one of the host schools for NTPS Future-Ready Kindergarten. This transitional kindergarten program teaches the skills students need for school in the year before they attend kindergarten. Future-Ready Kindergarten classes begin in November and then follow the same school hours and days as our K-5 students at Horizons.

About Future-Ready Kindergarten
Is your child entering kindergarten in the fall of 2026 and not currently in preschool?
NTPS Future-Ready Kindergarten is a free, transitional pre-kindergarten program for children who are scheduled to enter kindergarten in the following fall. Classes will focus on social-emotional and early learning skills needed for school.
The program will be offered to families who live within the boundaries of:
- Chambers Prairie Elementary
- Horizons Elementary
- Lacey Elementary
- Lakes Elementary
- Lydia Hawk Elementary
- Mountain View Elementary
- Olympic View Elementary
- Seven Oaks Elementary
Students qualify to apply the year before they are eligible to attend kindergarten and live within the boundaries of a participating school.
If your child turns five by August 31, 2025, they are not eligible for Future-Ready Kindergarten and should attend regular kindergarten this upcoming fall. Use this age calculator for help determining age eligibility.
